Cody Young's accomplishments

— Cody Jackson Young

 Born and raised in Muncie

 Son of Jon and Karen Young; has three brothers: Neal (wife, Maggie), 25, of Goshen; Brady, 21, at Wabash College; and Logan, 19, at Indiana University

 Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 47th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft; played first professional season with the Bluefield Orioles in Bluefield, W. Va., this summer; spends offseason substitue teaching K-12 in Goshen, as well as volunteering as an assistant basketball coach for the Goshen College men’s basketball team, while working out and preparing for spring training

 Graduated from Delta High School in 2006 with academic honors; earned varsity letters in soccer, basketball and baseball

 Graduated from Anderson University in May with 3.0 GPA and business finance degree

 Accomplishments and service: member of Student Athletic Advisory Committee; worked a the Hopewell Center for three years; member of Dativus men’s service and social club; helped with Anderson baseball team Bible study (The Sandlot); volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Operation Foundation and various Anderson University baseball camps; assistant coach for Delta Middle School baseball team; coach Hoosier Diamond 13- and 14-year-old travel baseball team with teammate Bradley Schnepp as sophomore and junior

 Baseball accomplishments: four-year varsity starter for Anderson University baseball team; co-captained coach Don Brandon’s final team with Bradley Schnepp; 1st team All-HCAC in 2008, 2010; 2nd team All-HCAC in 2009; three-time HCAC hitter of the week; American Baseball Coaches Association Second Team All-Region in senior year; All-American in senior year; 2010 Anderson University Senior Outstanding Male Athlete Award winner; led HCAC in batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage in senior year; tied for conference record with 18 stolen bases in a conference season with teammate Chris Jarrett; 1st all-time at AU with a 9.82 slugging percentage his senior year; 2nd all-time with a .482 batting average in senior year; 4th all-time with a .532 on base percentage in senior year; 8th all-time with 13 home runs in senior year; 4th all-time with 8 triples in junior year; 2nd all-time with  a .709 career slugging percentage; 3rd all-time with 19 career triples; 6th all-time with 30 career home runs; 11th all-time with 136 career runs batted in; set school records for hits (6), runs (6) and total bases (14) in a game; became only fourth player in school history to hit for the cycle; along with Chris Jarrett, became the first pair of AU teammates to be drafted in same draft since 1987
