Anderson woman dies after I-69 crash

By Brandi Watters, Herald Bulletin Staff Writer

ANDERSON — A 20-year-old woman is dead after a Sunday afternoon crash on Interstate 69.

Sarah L. Woodruff was killed after crashing near the 17 mile-marker of Interstate 69 at 12:52 p.m. Sunday.

According to Sgt. Michael Burns of the Indiana State Police, Woodruff’s 1999 Mercedes was heading southbound on the interstate when she lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the median.

ISP accident reconstructionist Master Trooper Detective Bob May said Woodruff’s vehicle rolled six times and came to a rest upside down in the median.

Woodruff was ejected and landed in the southbound lanes of Interstate 69. State police say she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Woodruff was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Fishers where she was pronounced dead.

According to a statement by the state police, crash investigators believe Woodruff overcorrected after driving her vehicle into the median area, causing her vehicle to roll several times.
