The Anderson Police Department officer who identified the body of Amanda Brinker testified Thursday during the second day of the Jesse Lee Pitts murder trial.
APD Assistant Chief Stan Young was the third witness to take the stand Thursday. He worked in the department's juvenile division at the time, serving as a liaison to Anderson High School. Young knew Amanda Brinker and when AHS attendance records showed she had not been to school, he contacted Brinker's mother, Laura Brinker, who said her daughter might have left early for school.
Young was then summoned to Edgewater Park, where he positively identified the body as Brinker. He then returned to the Brinker home to notify of the family of what had happened.Young initiated the interview process with AHS students including Cameron Turner, Desmond Rogers and Shea Ogburn.
On Wednesday, Ogburn testified that he saw Brinker enter a car at the bus the two shared.
