PENDLETON — A Pendleton man was shot and killed in his home Saturday night but managed to call 911 and tell police who allegedly shot him before he died.

Michael Dickey, 33, died from multiple gunshot wounds after being airlifted to Wishard Hospital.

Pendleton Police Chief Marc Farrer said Dickey called 911 at 10:07 p.m. Saturday and reported that he’d been shot. “He did have wound to the head and still called,” Farrer said.

He was shot at his home at 520 Taylor St. in Pendleton, Farrer said, and apparently called police using his cell phone.

Farrer said the man suffered at least three gunshot wounds, including one to the head.

When police arrived at the scene, Dickey told police he’d been shot and “provided officers with a suspect name of Ryan Stamm,” Farrer reported.

He also told police that Stamm was driving a black Jeep.

Ryan Stamm, 20, of Anderson, was located by Anderson police and led them on a 9-mile pursuit before his capture at 5:55 a.m. Sunday.

Dickey died at Wishard Hospital shortly after his arrival. An autopsy is expected later this week.

Stamm is being held at the Madison County jail on suspicion of murder, a Class A felony and resisting law enforcement.
