ANDERSON, Ind. —
Police say a person was shot to death outside a Chase Street home Sunday evening. Officers are investigating the incident as a murder.
Anderson Police Department spokesperson Joel Sandefur said the shooting outside 1610 Chase St. occurred about 6:50 p.m. Sandefur said few other details were immediately available.
"The investigation is just getting underway," he noted.
According to police scanner transmissions, when officers were called to the scene of the shooting about 7 p.m., the victim was already being transported to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. It's unclear whether the victim was still alive upon arrival at the hospital.
Scanner traffic also indicated a suspect was driving a dark green, older-model, Suburban-style SUV with a flatbed trailer.
Officers were placing crime-scene tape around the Chase Street home about 8:30 p.m.
Police at the scene would not provide details about the shooting, which apparently happened outside a complex of apartment buildings. A neighbor said she came out of her home to find out what happened after she saw police cars. She said she knew nothing about the shooting.
