Man arrested in shooting of 21-year-old

Victim taken to Indianapolis hospital

ANDERSON, Ind. — Anderson police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the shooting of another man Wednesday outside a home where an argument had broken out.

Alonzo Page, 21, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition. Police arrested Landon G. Smith, 20, in connection with the shooting, according to WISH-TV, a news partner of The Herald Bulletin.

Gunfire was heard about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday near West Third and Henry streets.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene, according to APD Detective Joel Sandefur. A short time later, police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' vechicle.

"A firearm was thrown from the vehicle. We were able to recover that," Sandefur said, noting that a second weapon that might have been used in the shooting was found at another location.

Smith was taken into custody and taken to the Madison County jail on Wednesday night on preliminary charges of attempted murder, armed robbery and resisting law enforcement.
