INDOT prepares for Northern Indiana snow

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Transportation says its crews are prepared for a snowstorm expected to hit northern Indiana.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday saying many areas of northern Indiana are expected to see a period of moderate to heavy snow Monday evening that could bring 1 to 3 inches of snow. That's on top of the 4 to 9 inches of snow some areas received Saturday and Sunday.

INDOT says crews already have been treating roadways through northern and central Indiana. INDOT officials are warning drivers, though, that roads could still be slick overnight and early Tuesday.
