Two-car collision sends vehicles into yard, injures one

ANDERSON, Ind. — A low-speed collision at the corner of 29th and Fletcher streets caused a commotion Friday night, but nobody was seriously injured.

The accident happened at about 7 p.m. when a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Natalie Burnett of Anderson was hit by a Chrysler minivan. The van had several occupants, but none spoke English. Officers responding to the scene confirmed a woman in the van was hospitalized, but that her injuries didn’t seem serious.

According to 20-year-old Burnett, she was headed north on Fletcher Street and admittedly didn’t see the stop sign at the corner. She entered the intersection and was hit on the passenger side by the van, which was headed west on 29th Street. The impact of the collision pushed the Camaro into a house at the northwest corner of the intersection, but there was no damage to the brick house.

The collision pushed the minivan into a neighboring yard farther from the northwest side of the intersection.

Several dozen people gathered around the scene of the accident, but only a few said they saw anything that happened. Burnett and witnesses said after the accident, a woman got out of the van, fainted and was transported away by ambulance.
