ANDERSON — For the second year in a row, Madison County’s Team Roboto 447 is heading to a world championship robotics event next month.
This past weekend the team won the Queen City FRC regional event at Xavier University to qualify for the championship, which will be held in St. Louis on April 23-26.
Madison County First Robotics team is comprised of about 20 students from Alexandria, Anderson, Lapel and Pendleton, and some home-schooled students, said one of the team’s sponsors, Judge Morton.
First Robotics is a competition for middle and high school students where teams have to learn the rules of a new game every year and have six weeks to design and build a robot to play that game.
“The game is played by alliances of three robots on each side, and alliances change every match,” Morton said. That teaches them “how to work together with ever-changing groups with different skill sets and strategies.”
