Man drowns trying to get beach ball in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Indiana conservation officers are investigating the drowning death of a 31-year-old man in a Fort Wayne lake.

Conservation officers say Adam Palm was swimming in Kekionga Lake after 2 p.m. Monday when a beach ball blew past him. They say he attempted to swim out to retrieve the ball and began to struggle and went under water.

His body was recovered by the Fort Wayne Water Rescue Team within 30 minutes in about 10 feet of water and about 30 feet from shore.

He was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital.
