ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson Preparatory Academy’s robotics team came out grand champions this weekend.

On Saturday, the team won a special tiebreaker to secure the title at the Y-BOT league’s grand championship in Fort Wayne, mentor William Decker said.

APA also won the Y-BOT Engineering Award, the Ivy Tech Technical Award — the highest granted by Ivy Tech — and the Ivy Tech Most Innovative award.

Team Roboto 447, a FIRST robotics team comprised of Madison County students, left for its world championship in St. Louis on Tuesday.

The team competed all the way through Saturday, facing teams from countries like Israel, Australia and Denmark, mentor Judge Morton said, but, with technical difficulties, didn’t make it to the end.
