BLOOMINGDALE, Ind. — City crews in Bloomington have taken down 20 large signs seeking information about the disappearance of an Indiana University student more than two years ago.
The Herald-Times reported Monday the signs scattered across the city came down last week in a decision by Mayor Mark Kruzan.
Kruzan says the city initially planned to take down the signs after IU graduation last May, but when local firefighters decided to renovate the volunteers' signs in April, the city decided to wait another six months before taking them down. Kruzan says some in the city feel the signs should have come down long ago, while other feel they should remain while Spierer remains missing.
The 20-year-old Greenburgh, N.Y., woman vanished early on June 3, 2011. No trace of her has been found.
