---- — Suzanne Orozco to serve children, youth and the disadvantaged
PENDLETON – Suzanne M. Orozco has been named as Transition Resources/Telamon Corp.'s new executive director.
Orozco joined the nonprofit in 1992 as state director of Telamon's Head Start program in Michigan. Since 1998, she has been responsible for managing Head Start, the National Farmworker Jobs Program, and other programs in five states as Telamon's deputy executive director.
She is an active member of the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association and is an advisory board member of the Johnson & Johnson Fellows Program at UCLA, where she was named a Fellow in 1993.
Orozco's tenure began on Feb. 15.
Transition Resources Corp. provides Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Delaware and Madison counties, operates the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) program in Marion County and offers HUD-approved Housing Counseling services in a 10-county area in north central Indiana.
Smiley elected treasurer at Indiana Veterinary Medical Association
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) elected Dr. Aaron Smiley as treasurer. He is a 2007 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
Smiley was a member of the IVMA Power of 10 Leadership Program and is a member of the Anderson Animal Protection League board. He works as chief of staff at Devonshire Veterinary Clinic in Anderson, where he practices small animal medicine and surgery.
Other newly elected officers are Dr. John Feutz, president, Dr. Jerry Risser, president-elect, Dr. James Stepusin, vice president, and Dr. Philip Borst, immediate past president.
The installation of officers took place Feb. 1 during the 130th annual meeting of the IVMA in Indianapolis. Surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, dermatology, equine medicine, and large animal issues, along with many other topics, were on the scientific meeting agenda.
The IVMA is the professional organization for veterinarians who care for Hoosier pets, farm animals, zoo animals, wildlife, and public health, and is the human side of animal health.
