Red Gold to host 2nd annual 5k run

ELWOOD — Red Gold will host its second “Run to Crush Hunger,” a competitive 5K run and family walk. Registration and the start of the race will begin at Callaway Park in Elwood on Saturday with check-in at 7:30 a.m. and the race starting at 9 a.m.

All proceeds from the race will be donated to the local Morrisett Center Food Pantry and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana. Last year the race boasted nearly 800 participants from 59 cities, 45 counties and eight states which led to a donation of $14,816.21.

Following the Run to Crush Hunger, Red Gold will be hosting the 28th annual Red Gold Chili Cook-Off and the Colts “Blue Saturday” at 11 a.m.

“Having all three events in Elwood makes ‘Crush Hunger Saturday’ a great destination for all ages to enjoy fun activities, great chili to sample, a unique run and the Indianapolis Colts,” says Colt Reichart, Red Gold new media marketing manager.
