Veterans to receive discounts and free meals

ANDERSON — Local restaurants and businesses will provide free food and discounts to veterans and active-duty military today. They include:

Good’s Candy Shop, 1423 W. 53rd St., Anderson — offering free ice cream cones or cups to all veterans on Veterans Day from 5 to 8 p.m.

Applebees — Eat free from a limited menu.

Golden Corral — Free dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.

Subway Restaurants — Free 6-inch sub or flatbread.

Texas Roadhouse — Free meals from opening until 4 p.m.

Retail businesses:

The Dollar General — 10 percent discount with Veterans Day coupon.

Home Depot — 10 percent discount offered year-round to active duty military and retirees.

Lowe’s — 10 percent discount offered year-round to active duty military and retirees.

Most companies and/or businesses require some form of military ID to obtain free/discounted services.

Mike’s Carwash — free carwash on Veterans Day. In addition to the free carwashes, Mike’s will support Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Donation buckets will be at each location to raise money for the national organization that serves close to 50,000 disabled veterans in Indiana and Ohio.
