Barber said there were safety reasons why they could not operate without water.
“When you are serving food, that is critical,” she said.
Subway, 1904 S. Scatterfield Road, and Ponderosa, 2006 S. Scatterfield Road, also remained closed until the water was restored.
The McDonald’s restaurant, 2014 S. Scatterfield Road, was open all day, but a manager declined to comment about the water situation Wednesday evening.
Rally’s Hamburgers, 2110 S. Scatterfield Road, however, did remain open for business.
A woman who identified herself as the manager when contacted at the restaurant by phone, but declined to provide her name, said the restaurant did not have running water, but portable restrooms had been set up around the shopping center.
“We have known for three days,” she said. “We have hand sanitizers to keep everything sanitized.”
