ANDERSON, Ind. —
Speck’s Pet Supplies has closed its Anderson location.
Marketing Manager Maryann Dalton confirmed the store, 1805 N. Scatterfield Road, closed last Saturday.
“It was with a great deal of deliberation and regret that we are leaving the Anderson community,” Dalton said. “That was one of our first locations.”
This week, employees have worked to disassemble displays and pack remaining inventory.
Dalton said finances were a major factor in the closure. Speck’s made several attempts to improve the location’s poor performance, “But it just was no longer feasible to keep the store open,” she said.
Maleah Stringer, president of the Animal Protection League, Inc., said the closure was a loss for the community. “I am very sorry to see them leave,” she said. Speck’s had participated in various Animal Protection League programs.
Dalton said Speck’s had strongly supported APL in Anderson, and hopes “the community continues to stand behind that organization.”
Speck’s operates six other stores around Central Indiana. In December, it said it would open two more locations.
One, on 116th Street, between Brooks School and Olio roads in Fishers, will open Friday. The Anderson store’s closure was independent of the Fishers opening, Dalton said.
Another Speck’s store, at the intersection of 106th street and Michigan Road in West Carmel, opened March 2.
