Barton joins United Way of Madison County as outreach coordinator

ANDERSON, Ind. — Julie Barton, a native of Alexandria Ind. has recently joined United Way of Madison County as Outreach Coordinator. Barton takes on her new position after returning to Madison County after 14 years in Detroit, Mich.

Barton will focus on connecting Madison County residents to options in health care and mortgage assistance. In this position, she will be able to help uninsured individuals throughout the community navigate the new health care system. Having come from a family of health care providers, Barton is very passionate about access to healthcare. She advocated for safe patient care ratios and safe working conditions alongside health care workers for many years.

“My new position as Outreach Coordinator will allow me to assist those in need, educate the community on health care and be a part of a broader community vision,” said Barton. “I am excited about the team I am working with and the vision that we share to simply make life better for residents of Madison County through a variety of resources.”

Barton received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan. She began her career in Family Law with a focus on children, the elderly and victims of domestic violence. Later she traveled extensively to support workers’ rights and social justice issues. Barton lived in Detroit, MI for 14 years during which time she created Southeast MI Jobs with Justice - a coalition of Community and Faith leaders to address community issues.

Barton resides in Alexandria.
