ANDERSON, Ind. —
The Broadway Taco Bell is closed following a possible electrical fire shortly before 10 p.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
The Anderson Fire Department responded to reports of flames at the restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. Monday.
When they arrived, Battalion Chief Eric Hutchinson said, firefighters found a fire in the front facade, near the front entrance.
It was in a concealed "dead air space" that firefighters couldn't reach from inside, he said, so they opened up a spot on the roof and attacked from above.
The electricity was cut, gas turned off and traffic diverted as Anderson firefighters worked.
Hutchinson said they knocked the blaze down in about 15 minutes.
While an investigation into the cause is still being completed, the battalion chief suspected an electrical fire.
None of the employees, who had their work shifts cut short, were injured.
Hutchinson said the restaurant will have to remain closed until damage is repaired. The food inside will also have to be thrown out as it was contaminated in the incident, he said.
The Board of Health has been contacted.
Damage was contained to the front of the restaurant, he said.
