A former Bright Automotive vice president is expected to be named Michigan’s automotive adviser.
According to Crain’s Detroit Business, an affiliate of Automotive News, Nigel Francis, a former vice president at Bright Automotive Inc. and Mercedes-Benx AG, will be named by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder next week .
Sources say Francis will begin his role with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. on Sept. 3. Attempts to contact officials at the development corporation were unsuccessful.
According to his profile on LinkedIn, Francis left Bright Automotive in May 2011, to work for Trexa LLC. Trexa, a Calif.- based company with headquarters in Marina del Rey, develops advanced-technology vehicle systems.
Francis joined Bright Automotive in 2009. The company opened an engineering facility at Anderson’s Flagship Enterprise Center in 2008. They closed the Anderson location in March 2012, after failing to secure a federal loan to build a hybrid delivery vehicle.
