Leland Boren to kick off Ivy Tech lecture series

MUNCIE —  Entrepreneur, industrialist and philanthropist Leland E. Boren, will share his story of success as the first presenter in Ivy Tech Community College’s School of Business Guest Lecture Series on Monday. Boren’s talk will be at 1 p.m. in the first floor auditorium at Ivy Tech Muncie’s Fisher campus, 345 S. High St. The presentation will also be teleconferenced to the Marion and Anderson campuses as well.

Born and raised in Indiana, Boren is chairman and CEO of Avis Industrial Corporation, a privately-held holding corporation for 10 manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico headquartered in Upland, IN. In 2010, he added president and CEO of PHD, Inc., Fort Wayne, a leading manufacturer of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic industrial automation actuators, to his list of business responsibilities. Boren began his career in 1945 at Pierce Governor Co., Anderson.

Local photographer earns top awards

ANDERSON — Nancy Bailey-Pratt of Nancy’s Photography has earned the title of Photographer of the Year at the recent Professional Photographers of Indiana (PPI)state convention. This is the 9th consecutive year she has placed in the Top 10. The presentation was made at the PPI’s annual convention in February held at the Indianapolis Hilton.

In addition to Top Photographer, Bailey-Pratt was first in both the Portrait and Album categories and second in the Illustrative categories with highest total cumulative score. Of her 10 total entries, all 10 received merit awards meaning they scored 80 or above. In addition, she had the Highest Scoring Album in the Show, the highest scoring children’s Portrait, the highest scoring outdoor Portrait. Special awards were given by ASP (American Society of Photographers) and IPPG (Indianapolis Professional Photographers Guild) and Judge’s choice, all awards which Bailey-Pratt also earned.
