Vectren donates to Athletes of Character

ANDERSON, Ind. — Athletes of Character recently accepted a grant of $3,200 from Vectren.

The Athletes of Character program brings high school athletes and elementary students together to discuss discipline, courage, bullying, perseverance and sportsmanship.

“Athletes of Character is a dynamic program that partners with the six Madison County public school systems to help nurture and project character development in our schools and communities,” said Dan Sager, board member of Character Counts! of Madison County, which administers the Athletes of Character program.

The selected athletes, featured on posters and trading cards distributed locally, speak about character development at elementary school convocations.

“We are pleased to support this important effort to help our children make positive decisions throughout their lives,” said Brad Ellsworth, president of Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana North.

— The East Central Indiana Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program welcomed 10 new volunteer child advocates into the agency on April 23.
