---- — ANDERSON — The Anderson University men's basketball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Manchester University 84-70 on Wednesday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.
Max Mollaun tied his career high with 30 points in the game, hitting 11-of-17 field goals and 7-of-10 free throws, including a 3-pointer. The junior also had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in the game. He also had 30 points at Defiance this season.
Nathaniel Acree was also in double figures with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, hitting 3-of-5 shots and 7-of-9 free throws, including a pair of 3-pointers. Scott Schwieterman and Micah Smith each added seven points and Nate Gross chipped in with six points, three rebounds and three assists.
Brett Anderson also had six points and three assists and Carson Breckenridge added four points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Anderson shot 57 percent from the field, incuding 60 in the second half when it outscored Manchester 53-41. The Ravens also hit 6-of-13 from 3-point range and 22-of-36 from the free throw line. The Spartans were at 46 percent shooting, including 4-of-15 from behind the arc and 18-of-28 from the charity stripe.
AU (5-17, 5-10 HCAC) travels to Hanover on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Manchester 54, Anderson 39: Mallory King led the Ravens with 15 points and six rebounds, hitting 6-of-13 field goals, including three 3-pointers.
Shelby Shaffer had nine points, five rebounds, three assists and Jenna Wittenberg added seven points and two steals.
The Ravens shot 27 percent from the field, incuding 5-of-20 from the 3-point line and 6-of-13 from the free throw line. Manchester was at 37 percent shooting, including 0-of-7 from behind the arc and 20-of-25 from the charity stripe.
AU (2-20, 1-14 HCAC) travels to Hanover on Saturday at 1 p.m.
