Hanover sweeps Ravens

HANOVER — The Anderson University men's basketball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Hanover College 86-66 on Saturday at Collier Arena.

Scott Schwieterman led the Ravens with a career-high 21 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, hitting 10 of 12 field goals. He made his first nine field goals in the contest.

Max Mollaun was in double figures with 14 points and three rebounds, making 6 of 17 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers. Zach Ladd was also in double figures with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Ravens shot 47 percent from the field, including 5-of-23 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

The Panthers were at 51 percent shooting, including 8-of-17 from behind the arc and 14-of-21 from the charity stripe. Hanover had a 41-27 advantage on the boards, including 14-6 on the offensive glass.

Anderson had the edge in points in the paint (34-30) and blocks (5-4), but the Panthers had the lead in assists (21-17), turnovers (8-13), points off turnovers (22-8), second chance points (22-10) and steals (8-3).

AU (5-18, 5-11 HCAC) travels to Mt. St. Joseph on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Women's Basketball

Hanover 71, Anderson 52: Shelby Shaffer led the Ravens with 18 points and three assists, hitting 5 of 17 field goals and 5 of 8 free throws, including three 3-pointers.

Emily Aviles was also in double figures with 12 points and two rebounds, hitting 4 of 6 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers. Nyomi Defiel had a team-high 10 rebounds to go with three points and three assists, and Mallory King added four points, seven rebounds and four assists.

AU (2-21, 1-15 HCAC) hosts Mt. St. Joseph on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
