AU's Hall wins 12th annual Erskine Award

ANDERSON — For the 12th time, the Carl D. Erskine Award of Excellence was given out by the Anderson Rotary Club to a deserving Anderson University baseball player on Tuesday.

This year’s winner was senior Blake Hall from Muncie.

Hall has a career record of 1-2 with a 5.68 earned run average and four saves in 25 appearances on the mound. In 44 1/3 innings pitched, he has allowed 55 hits while striking out 33.

“Blake Hall is the epitome of what we would like to have in the Anderson University baseball program,” said AU coach David Pressley. “He has dedicated himself on the field to put himself in a position to help us win day in and day out. Even more than that, he is the best teammate a player could ask for.”

Erskine was on hand to speak about the award and the winner, saying “This is more about what this award is about than what it is called. AU produces product that makes a difference all over the world. I’m pleased to honor another one of those products.”

The Rotary Club presented a $50 check to Anderson University to the general scholarship fund.

Hall’s likeness will soon be added to a permanent display located inside the Kardatzke Wellness Center.
