BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana coach Tom Crean would prefer to keep playing. Instead, he's already looking toward next season.
After being left out of the NCAA's 68-team tournament and the 32-team NIT, Crean issued a statement through the athletic department expressing disappointment that Indiana's season is over. Crean said the Hoosiers (17-15) were playing with confidence and were poised to keep improving.
Instead, Crean finished his four-sentence statement with the words "See you next year."
It's the fourth time in six seasons the Hoosiers have missed the postseason.
Two Big Ten teams — Minnesota and Illinois — did make the NIT. Illinois defeated Indiana on Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten tournament.
Missouri Valley Conference runner-up Indiana State (23-10) was the only school from Indiana that was selected for postseason.
