Ravens softball team in HCAC title game

AU gets 2 shutouts

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson University softball team defeated No. 3 seed Bluffton 3-0 and No. 4 seed Franklin 6-0 on Friday to advance to the championship game of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament in North Manchester.

Against Bluffton, Sami Frazier was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits in seven innings while striking out seven with one walk.

Katy Ogden led the Ravens offense with two hits, two RBIs and a run, including the game-winning RBI double in the fourth inning.

Natalie Moorhouse had two hits and an RBI as the Ravens outhit the Beavers 6-2.

Against Franklin, Lauren Smith led the offense with three hits and two runs scored.

Amy Wuestefeld had two hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base, and Katie Lee added a triple and two RBIs.

Yardley Collett chipped in with a hit and the game-winning RBI in the first inning.

Frazier improved to 10-2 overall with her second victory of the day on the mound. The freshman allowed just two hits in six innings while striking out four without a walk.

AU (24-14) will play the Franklin/Manchester winner in the championship game at 1 p.m. The winner of that game must beat the Ravens twice to win the championship.
