Raven baseball splits 2 in Florida

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Anderson University baseball team dropped the first game of a doubleheader against Benedictine on Saturday 8-6. However, the Ravens rebounded to win the second contest 5-2.

In the first game, Jacob Craft led the Ravens offense with two hits, three RBIs and a run scored, including a double.

Ryan McPike had two doubles and an RBI, and Cole Heberling added a double.

Dan Schmitz took the loss on the mound, allowing seven hits and five earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. Mark Garrett tossed 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing five hits and two runs.

In the second contest, Zack Hufferd and Jeremy Shelmadine led the offense with two hits and an RBI each, including a double.

Heberling and Craft also had a double and RBI each, and Zach Garcia chipped in with an RBI.

Jake Eaton earned the victory on the mound, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out nine in six innings. Andrew Enderle earned his first save, allowing three hits in one inning of work to close the game out for the Ravens.

AU (2-5) faces Augustana on today at 9 a.m.
