Ball State to face Arkansas State in GoDaddy Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. — Arkansas State will face Ball State in the GoDaddy Bowl.

Ball State accepted an invitation to the Jan. 5 game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Sunday. Arkansas State was already set to play in the GoDaddy Bowl for the third consecutive year.

Ball State (10-2) reached double-digit victories for only the third time with a 55-15 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 29.

"Ball State has been challenging their opponents on both sides of the ball and we think this matchup will be another exciting one for Mobile, the universities and the fans," GoDaddy Bowl President Jerry Silverstein said.

ASU (7-5) beat Kent State in last season's game for the program's first victory over a ranked team and lost to Northern Illinois two years ago. The Red Wolves have won or shared the Sun Belt Conference championship three straight years.

Ball State lost 45-13 to Tulsa in the GoDaddy Bowl on Jan. 6, 2009.

Ball State is led by quarterback Kenneth Wenning, the school's all-time leader in touchdown passes and passing yards, among other records.

Wenning is also the first Ball State quarterback to pass for 10,000 or more yards in his career.

Then the GMAC Bowl, the Mobile game produced the highest-scoring bowl game in 2001. Marshall overcame a 30-point halftime deficit to beat East Carolina 64-61 in double overtime.
