Ravens shut out in home opener

ANDERSON — The Anderson University football team lost to Grove City 42-0 on Saturday at Macholtz Stadium in the home opener.

Chandler Farrow led the Ravens with 168 yards passing, completing 15 of 25 passes in relief. Starter Brady Cavinee was 9-of-17 for 40 yards in the first half.

Keith Thomas led the receiving corps with six catches for 63 yards, and Dev Thompson also had six receptions for 37 yards. Willie Robinson and Marc Jones each had three catches for the Ravens.

Edward Pupoh led the ground game with 28 yards rushing on four carries, and Johnell Wortham added 19 yards on 10 rushing attempts.

Tyler Ganus led the Ravens defense with 22 tackles, including 14 solos. Keiven Stewart had 12 tackles, and Drew Ponder added nine stops. Linebackers Nate Mosier and Sammy Faulkner chipped in with seven tackles each, and Herman Pollard had an interception.

Grove City had a 413-254 advantage in total offense, including 226-46 on the ground. The Wolverines also converted 9 of 13 third-down chances to 3 of 15 for the Ravens.

AU (0-2) has a bye next week before hosting Defiance on Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
