Colts Report Card: Week 17

COLTS 30, JAGUARS 10

PLAYER OF THE GAME

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts

Jacksonville held the diminutive wide receiver out of the end zone but couldn't contain him anywhere else. Hilton set career highs with 11 catches and 155 yards and went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. He helped Indianapolis set the tone, scoring touchdowns on its first two drives and essentially ending the competitive portion of the game. A healthy and productive Hilton will be key for the postseason.

GRADES

Offense: A

Hard to argue with much. The offense scored on six of 10 drives before running out the clock on the final possession and put up 30 points for the first time in six weeks. Indianapolis racked up 23 first downs and converted eight of 16 third-down chances, shoring up a long-standing problem area. Getting the ball to Hilton was a key, but the Andrew Luck and backup Matt Hasselbeck spread the ball around to 11 different receivers. Luck finished 26-of-37 for 282 yards and one touchdown, and the Colts got rushing scores from Donald Brown and Trent Richardson.

Defense: A

Chad Henne finished with 331 passing yards, but Jacksonville never was in this contest. The Colts forced two turnovers — a fumble recovery by Darius Butler and an interception by Antoine Bethea — and sacked Henne three times. Jacksonville rushed for just 42 yards and had a long gain of 6. Robert Mathis recorded two sacks to improve his single-season franchise record to 19.5, and Indianapolis has surrendered just two touchdowns in the past three weeks. The Jaguars' came with just 16 seconds to play in the game.

Special teams: A

Pat McAfee dropped three of his five punts inside the 20-yard line, including two inside the 10, and averaged 47.4 yards per attempt. It was also a very big day for Adam Vinatieri, who went 3-for-3 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points. In the process, the veteran kicker passed the 2,000-point barrier for his career and moved into fifth on the NFL's all-time scoring list with 2,006 points.
