ANDERSON, Ind. — Monday's morning walkthrough is in the books, and outside linebacker Robert Mathis was the first player to meet the media.

Perhaps that's fitting, since head coach Chuck Pagano told the younger players Monday he wants them to follow Mathis' lead.

"(Being a veteran leader) means you've been around for awhile, and that's a blessing in itself," Mathis said. "You like the way the guys look at you, and (Pagano) kind of put the onus on me today. Follow my tenacity or leadership today. So I gotta run around a little bit more, be a younger guy. Reaching back five years."

Fans can watch Mathis' leadership evolve when the Colts return for public practice at 1:50 p.m.

Officials estimated more than 4,000 fans attended Sunday's afternoon practice, and another good crowd is expected today.

Indianapolis continues training camp at Anderson University through Aug. 16.
