Supreme Court officer wants public reprimand, not disbarment
ANDERSON — An Indiana Supreme Court official has recommended that Madison County Prosecutor Thomas Broderick be “publicly reprimanded for his misconduct,” according to court documents.

Chesterfield hires part-time maintenance workers
CHESTERFIELD — Town officials have hired two part-time workers to fill vacancies left when town employees were allegedly discovered stealing from town coffers during a state audit. Maintenance workers James Walters and Chris Walters were fired along with Town Marshall Jamie Kimm and part-time police officer Joseph Brown after the five men were implicated in the theft of more than $259,000 from the town of Chesterfield. Earlier this year, Clerk-treasurer Chris Parrish resigned.

Inmate sentenced to 13 more years in murder-for-hire plot
ANDERSON — An inmate at the Pendleton Correctional Industrial Facility has been sentenced to 13 additional years for trying to have his ex-girlfriend killed. Chester Kardel, 46, pleaded guilty in Madison County Superior Court 1 Tuesday to Class B felony conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. He will serve 13 years after he finishes a previous 10-year sentence in Henry County.

- Anderson police arrested Michael D. Brooks, 52, of the 900 block of West Sixth Street, Anderson at 9:45 p.m. Monday at 30th and Meridian Streets, Anderson. Bond was set for $5,000 on charges of Class A misdemeanor shoplifting and Class B misdemeanor public intoxication.
- Anderson police arrested Justin B. Reynolds, 36, of the 1900 block of Pearl Street, Anderson at 10:50 p.m. Monday at 421 East 23rd Street, Anderson. No bond was set on charges of Class A misdemeanor battery.

Child safety program to be held scheduled
ANDERSON — A free children’s safety program will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the PAL Club, 101 E. Oak St. The program will consist of safety information for children and adults along with various techniques for self defense.

Stepfather found guilty of child molestation
ANDERSON — A jury found an Anderson man guilty Tuesday of molesting his 7-year-old stepdaughter for nearly 6 months, but the child’s mother was found not guilty of neglect and aiding the molestation. “We knew we had a tough case against the mom, but the big thing was him,” said Madison County Deputy Attorney Steve Koester. “It’s likely he’ll never see the light of day again. So that’s good.”

11:40 a.m.: Pedestrian struck on I-69
ANDERSON -- Police radio reports say that a pedestrian has been struck by a truck in the southbound lane of Interstate 69 near the 21-mile marker. It appears the victim is conscious and breathing.

Driver contacts lawyer after Clem injured
ANDERSON — Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said a woman has admitted to accidentally hitting Madison County Judge Thomas Clem on his bicycle; however, it isn’t clear whether the judge agreed not to call authorities.

ANDERSON — The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is looking for at least one man involved in at least two Lafayette Township burglaries Thursday morning, according to Sheriff Ron Richardson.

ANDERSON -- Indiana 9 has reopened to traffic in both directions, after a reported four-car accident between Hartman Road and County Road 375 North. The accident was reported around 9:35 a.m. Thursday.

ANDERSON – No one was injured Wednesday when a car caught fire on Interstate 69 near the 24-mile marker, according to Anderson Fire Department Capt. Mark Vandergrist.

Vehicle overturned in 53rd Street accident
Anderson police and paramedics are en route to a traffic accident on West 53rd Street. One vehicle is overturned and there is entrapment, according to initial radio reports.

Vandals go on early morning rampage
ANDERSON — Residents of the Mustin subdivision awoke Monday morning to find the remains of what appears to be a mid-morning vandalism spree. Jerry Savage, a resident in the 200 block of South Mustin Drive, found the front and back windows of his white Geo Tracker busted out.
