---- — ANDERSON -- An accident involving a dump truck sent one person to the hospital in Anderson on Wednesday afternoon.

The collision occurred at Scatterfield Road and East 43rd Street about 12:50 p.m. near a busy retail area.

Investigating Officer Randy Doss of the Anderson Police Department said a woman driving a Toyota Venza was southbound on Scatterfield Road when she turned left into the path of an oncoming dump truck.

The truck struck the Venza and it came to rest on the east side of Scatterfield in the front lawn of T and H Sweeper.

First responders initially requested a Lifeline helicopter, Doss said, but medics called it off.

The driver, the lone occupant in the Venza, was responsive at the scene of the accident but complained of pain.

She was taken to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, Doss said. The truck driver reportedly was uninjured.

Police shut down the right lane of northbound Scatterfield traffic as they worked the accident scene Wednesday afternoon.
