---- — ANDERSON — A man is being held at the Madison County Jail while police investigate his alleged connection to a Wednesday night stabbing.

Christopher L. Kinson, 38, of Fort Worth, Texas, was still in custody Thursday night on $30,000 bail. He faces preliminary charges of strangulation and battery with a deadly weapon, both felonies. Anderson Police Department Detective Joel Sandefur said the case is on a 72-hour hold while police investigate the accusations.

According to reports from Sandefur and APD Sgt. Bill Casey on Wednesday night, a 40-year-old woman called police after she was reportedly stabbed and attacked about 6 p.m in the 3900 block of St. Charles Street on the city’s south side. The woman was transported to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and received stitches for an 8-inch laceration on her left bicep and treatment for a head injury. Doctors also reported finding evidence that the woman was choked, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Kinson and his brother, also from Texas, were taken into custody not far from the scene of the alleged attack and taken to APD for questioning.

According to Casey, detectives are still working on piecing together what happened because the victim’s and suspects’ stories conflict. According to the woman, the two men were both wielding pocket knives and started attacking her without provocation after a disagreement. The men told police that the woman was also acting belligerent, and that she was swinging a katana-style sword.

According to Sandefur, the other man was released after being questioned and is no longer a suspect in the case. Kinson is the only one facing charges.
