Man hospitalized after one-car accident north of Anderson

ANDERSON — A man needed to be removed from his vehicle by rescue crews after an accident just north of the city on Thursday.

According to a press release from Madison County Sheriff's Department Major Brian Bell, at about 2:45 p.m., Michael Barden of Anderson was traveling north on County Road 100 West when he lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of County Road 500 North. Barden's vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, snapping the pole in half.

Scanner traffic indicated Barden was trapped in his car, which overturned during the accident. Madison County Sheriff's deputies were the first to respond to the scene.

Barden suffered lacerations to his head and neck and complained of pain in his side and chest at the scene. He was transported to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital for treatment.

Bell said there was no update on Barden's condition as of Thursday evening and no indication of why he lost control of the vehicle, but it isn't believed he was impaired in any way.
