ANDERSON, Ind. —
The rail line near 53rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was shut down for nearly an hour Monday evening as firefighters battled a brush fire.
Around 7:15 p.m., the Anderson Fire Department was dispatched to the area with reports of smoke. When they arrived, firefighters discovered flames between the rail track and telephone poles, Battalion Chief Eric Hutchinson said.
The Fire Department then contacted CSX to shut down the rail line as firefighters would be crossing over the tracks to fight the flames, he added. Motor vehicle traffic was not diverted during the incident.
The fire was initially under control with AFD leaving the scene around 8 p.m. But around 8:50 p.m., the fire rekindled.
