---- — INDIANAPOLIS — A former Indianapolis radio personality was arrested Monday, suspected of stealing the identities of four Madison County family members over a four-year span.
Kelli Jack-Kelly, 48, faces four counts of identity deception and eight counts of fraud, all Class D felony, for the incidents alleged to have happened between October 2007 and May 2011. The charges are being handled by the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.
According to the probable cause affidavit for the charges, Anderson Police Department Detective Mitch Carroll and the attorney general’s office launched an investigation in January 2012 that lasted two years, uncovering several incidents of identity theft and fraud believed to be perpetrated by Jack-Kelly.
It was first brought to their attention when Jack-Kelly’s mother-in-law filed a report showing that as many as three credit cards had been created and used in her name. Jack-Kelly had asked the woman for her Social Security number at her wedding in 2010, claiming that a minister required the information.
According to the affidavit:
In October 2007, Jack-Kelly opened a credit card account in her father’s name, and used the card the same month to make purchases at Payless Shoe Store, Petsmart and other retail stores and to pay a dental and phone bill.
In June 2008, Jack-Kelly used an aunt’s identity and opened another credit card account, using it again for retail purchases, bills and to make payments to her broadcast journalism business, Lines Inc. Communication.
In November 2009, she used the identity of her father-in-law to make another credit card, and used it to buy food from restaurants around Madison County. The affidavit says that Jack-Kelly committed similar crimes in November 2010 and June 2010.
Jack-Kelly was heard on several Indianapolis stations over the years in disc jockey and traffic reporting roles.
She also served on the board of directors for the Paramount Theatre in Anderson. According to current Paramount director Gayle Burris, Jack-Kelly has not served on the board for some time, at least since Burris took over in 2008.
