ANDERSON, Ind. — A homeless man faces three charges of child molest after accusations from a 6-year-old girl that he molested her and her 9-year-old sister.

Ziemel Gilmore-Santos, 20, remains in custody at the Madison County Jail on $20,000 bond for the alleged incidents believed to have started January 1, said Anderson Police spokesman Det. Joel Sandefur.

Gilmore-Santos was arrested at the Anderson Public Library Wednesday afternoon and brought in for questioning by detectives. During the interview, Gilmore-Santos admitted he had touched the girls inappropriately, Sandefur said.

Anderson police received information about the accusations from a report from the Department of Child Services on Feb. 20. Detectives followed up and questioned the 6-year-old, who told them Gilmore-Santos had been touching her and her sister sexually, Sandefur said.

The girl also told detectives Gilmore-Santos threatened to kill the girls’ mother if they told anyone, Sandefur said. Gilmore-Santos is also charged with intimidation.
