Woman accused of stabbing another woman during argument

ANDERSON — A woman accused of stabbing another woman in the stomach with a kitchen knife was arrested early Saturday morning.

Annie L. Cooper, 47, faces a charge of battery with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony, for allegedly stabbing another woman at Cooper's home in the 1900 block of Arrow Avenue. As of Saturday, Cooper was still in custody at Madison County Jail on $10,000 bond.

According to a probable cause affidavit of the incident, Cooper and the victim were at Cooper's home and got into an argument about 3 a.m. According to the victim, Cooper got angry, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the side.

The victim told police she was in so much pain she couldn't move, so she lay down for about an hour. After Cooper fell asleep, the woman was able to get up and limp a few houses down where she could call for help, according to the victim. Medics arrived and took her to St. Vincent Anderson Hospital for treatment.

The woman needed to be transferred to the St. Vincent Indianapolis 86th Street location due to the serious nature of her injury. According to St. Vincent officials, conditions of patients aren't released to the public.

When police arrived at Cooper's home, she allegedly admitted she stabbed the woman after an argument but told officers she didn't know where the knife was.
