3 injured in 2-vehicle collision

PENDLETON — An accident on Wednesday morning hospitalized three and temporarily trapped two occupants of one of the vehicles.

According to a press release from the Madison County Sheriff's Department, at about 8:40 a.m., a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Kent E. Stewart, 42, of Greenfield slammed into the driver's side door of a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 66-year-old Marion Harris of Anderson. The accident happened at the intersection of County Road 900 South and County Road 300 West.

The Silverado, which was traveling westbound on 900 South, came to a stop at a stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection, where it was hit by the Camry, which was headed north on 300 West. No fault has been determined in the accident.

The Silverado came to a rest on the passenger's side, trapping Harris and 42-year-old passenger Jeff Harris, also of Anderson. After the accident, Marion Harris complained of pain to his head and lower legs. Jeff Harris suffered a head contusion and complained of lower back pain. Both were transported to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. Stewart complained of pain to head and entire body and also possibly suffered a fracture to his lower left arm.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Pendleton Fire Department and ambulance.
