2 men being questioned in stabbing of woman

ANDERSON, Ind. —

A woman was hospitalized Wednesday night after being stabbed on the city's south side.

The 40-year-old woman was admitted to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and received stitches for an 8-inch laceration on her left bicep. She was also possibly choked and complained of a head injury, but her injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Anderson Police Department public information officers Joel Sandefur and Bill Casey.

Two men were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the alleged attack.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. in the 3900 block of St. Charles Street. Casey said detectives were attempting to sort out the unusual incident because the victim's and suspects' stories conflict. According to the woman, the two men were both wielding pocket knives and started attacking her without provocation after a disagreement. The men told police that the woman was also acting belligerent, and that she was swinging a katana-style sword.

Police were still investigating the incident and were working on obtaining a search warrant for the house where the attack happened.

The two men, brothers from Texas, have previous convictions and, according to Casey, are possibly developmentally disabled. As of Wednesday night, both were in police custody at APD for questioning. Sandefur said the two could be facing felony battery charges for the incident.
