ANDERSON — A woman was taken to the hospital late Monday night after her car slammed into a train parked on the tracks north of Anderson.

According to Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, Ruth Ann Jenkinson, 60, of Muncie, was driving a 2013 Honda CRV and headed home from work at Community Hospital about 11 p.m. when the accident occurred at the tracks near County Road 300 North.

Jenkinson told police that she didn't see the train until it was too late to avoid hitting it. She also told officers that she had never seen a train on the tracks there before.

There are no crossing arms or warning lights at the crossing, according to Richardson.

Jenkinson complained of head, shoulder, back and neck pain and was taken to Community Hospital Anderson. There was no report of her condition Tuesday night.
