---- — ANDERSON — Police still haven’t made an arrest in the case of the rape of an elderly woman on July 16.
Detectives have completed conducting interviews with neighbors and possible suspects but haven’t identified any prominent figures in the investigation, Anderson Police Department spokesman Joel Sandefur said on Monday.
“There’s no update on the case,” Sandefur said.
The attack happened after midnight on July 16 in her home in the 3600 block of Hamilton Place in the Polish Acre neighborhood. The 90-year-old victim was hospitalized after the assault and has since been released.
According to Sandefur, the attacker broke into the woman’s locked home. The attacker didn’t seem to be interested in anything other than sexually assaulting the woman, Sandefur said.
Police canvassed a three-block area around the home for clues or suspects but found nothing.
The detective said the investigation is ongoing and the department will make an announcement when an arrest is made.
