Gas leak shuts down Indiana 13/37 near county border

The Herald Bulletin

FRANKTON, Ind. — Madison County Emergency Management officials closed Indiana 13 briefly Wednesday because of a gas leak.

According to EMA assistant public information officer Rodney Connor, the road was closed from county roads 400 to 500 North after EMA received a call for assistance from Frankton Fire Department, which discovered the leak about 5 p.m. The leak was near the intersection of Ind. 13 and 400 North, on the Hamilton County border.

According to police scanner traffic, additional units from Madison and Hamilton counties were called out to assist with possible trouble with the leak. By 5:45 p.m., transmissions indicated the crews were given the all-clear and were leaving the scene.

The only structure in that area is a now-defunct truck stop.
