Man who allegedly abducted his infant daughter faces new charges

ANDERSON, Ind. — A man who was arrested in February on suspicion of abducting his 5-month-old daughter and assaulting her mother faces new charges after violating a no-contact order.

In February, Hung Vi Ong, a 33-year-old Vietnamese national, allegedly became physically abusive with his girlfriend, choking, punching her in the right eye and throwing her against a wall, according to court documents.

He also allegedly threatened to stab her and his infant daughter with a knife before taking the child and fleeing in his car. He turned the child over to a friend at a coffee shop on Scatterfield Road, but fled before police arrived.

After negotiations with relatives, he returned to the Autumn Ridge apartment complex, where the woman had sought refuge.

Police were waiting.

That incident resulted in counts of Class C felony intimidation, Class A misdemeanor domestic battery and a no-contact order, which he reportedly violated Saturday when police arrested him outside the woman’s apartment building.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Anderson police officer Donavan Baysinger witnessed Ong parking his 2004 white Toyota Solara in front of the building.

Ong told Baysinger he “was dropping off items” for his daughter, the affidavit said.

The officer checked Ong’s record, and was told about the no-contact order. Ong was arrested and charged with Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy and Class B misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

In addition to the charges he has against him in Madison County, Ong is also wanted on a misdemeanor larceny charge in California, Anderson Police Department spokesman Detective Joel Sandefur said.

Reporters Stu Hirsch and Dani Palmer contributed to this story.
