The Herald Bulletin

ANDERSON, Ind. — Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a blaze that overwhelmed a duplex in Richland Township Friday night.

A witness, David Arnold Jr., was visiting a nearby home and said that while he was taking trash out, he heard another man call for help. He said saw smoke billowing from the structure at 112 Darin Court and called 911 while the other man kicked the front door open.

Arnold said he followed the man inside and discovered a woman unconscious on the kitchen floor of the house. When the other man was unable to lift her, he carried her outside, he added.

Arnold said he and the other man found a couch in the living room completely engulfed in flames before they exited the building.

The house and a garage with a vehicle inside were heavily damaged by smoke and water.

According to Richland Township Fire Chief Darren Study, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
