---- — ANDERSON — Anderson police were searching for a suspect in a hit and run accident Wednesday night after a woman struck a moped and fled.
According to Anderson Police Department spokesman Detective Joel Sandefur, the accident occurred at the intersection of Nichol Avenue and Laurel Street around 6:10 p.m.
He said the southbound driver of a Pontiac Sunfire failed to stop at a stop sign on Laurel Street when she struck Niggel Brown, 48, of Anderson, who was driving a moped on Nichol Avenue.
The driver fled the scene and Brown was transported to St. Vincent Anderson Regional with cuts and a possible broken leg.
On Wednesday night, Sandefur said police were searching for a black Pontiac Sunfire with a temporary tag and front-end damage.
The driver was described as a black female in her 20s.
