Police arrest 2 men over weekend in domestic violence incidents

ANDERSON — City police arrested two suspects over the weekend following investigations of domestic violence.

Roger Rodriguez Jr., 29, was charged with domestic battery, a Class D felony, after allegedly attacking and injuring a woman in front of her sister and her 1- and 3-year-old children on Friday afternoon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim, a 29-year-old woman called police after the alleged assault. When police arrived, they found the woman injured, with a cut on her lip, a chipped tooth and scrapes. She also complained that Rodriguez had pulled some of her hair out. She told police he showed up at the home in the 2700 block of West 16th Street, started yelling at her, then attacked.

When police tracked down Rodriguez shortly after, they reportedly found a bag of marijuana in his pockets. The woman also had an order of protection against Rodriguez. All told, he faces charges of domestic battery, invasion of privacy and possession of marijuana.

Rodriguez has serious felonies in his past, and has already been arrested three times in 2014. According to court documents, he pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and resisting law enforcement for an armed robbery in 2004. He violated probation and work-release terms on that charge in 2011. He was arrested Feb. 22 on a charge of disorderly conduct, then two days later was arrested on a felony charge of domestic battery. It's unclear whether the victim was the same as the Friday incident.

According to jail records, Rodriguez was being held in Madison County Jail on a $5,000 full-cash bond Monday.

Darrick Miller, 53, faces charges of criminal confinement, strangulation and domestic battery after he allegedly punched a woman repeatedly, choked her and threatened to kill her if she left her home in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street on Sunday evening, police said.
