Police seek clues in Sunday shooting, Monday stabbing

ANDERSON — Police are investigating a shooting incident from Sunday afternoon and a stabbing that occurred Monday night.

Police were called to the area of 11th and Locust streets about 3 p.m. Sunday after reports of shots being fired.

According to Anderson Police Department spokesman Joel Sandefur, there was a report of a man shooting at a vehicle. Shortly after, a man believed to be the suspect was seen running between houses on nearby Victory Court. It's believed the man sped away from the scene in a gold Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows.

Police officers Matt Jarrett and Gabe Bailey searched the area, and a police dog was deployed, but no leads to a suspect were found, and Sandefur said it's unclear why the man was shooting.

Police are also investigating an unrelated stabbing that happened Monday night in the 3600 block of Columbus Avenue.

According to Sandefur, the attack was an attempted robbery that occurred about 9:30 p.m.

Details were limited on the incident, and Sandefur said there were no suspects yet. The unnamed victim was taken to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital for treatment. The condition of the victim was unknown Tuesday.

Anyone with information about either incidents is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 649-8310.
